Welcome to 5th Grade!

I want to welcome my students and families to the fifth grade! This will be an exciting year for all of us. As I'm sure many of you have realized, I am fairly new to Otto Petersen Elementary. I completed my master degree program and received my teaching certificate in December of 2016. Although I am a new teacher at this school I am not new to this school. I myself attended Petersen as a child and graded from Scappoose High School! I am so excited to be returning to this school and serving the community that helped raise me.

The purpose of this blog is twofold. First, it will act as a communication tool for families. I will post weekly to bi-weekly updates on what is happening in our classroom. This includes newsletters, assignments, homework, photos, and videos about what we are working on in fifth grade. I also use the blog as a tool to organize some assignments. I might post links, informative videos, or helpful tips for the class. I invite my students and families to share comments on the blog posts; if you see anything you would like added, please let me know.

This year specials (PE, music, and library) will be on a rotating schedule. We will start school on an A-day and follow and ABC schedule after that. Our specials are as follows A-Library B-Music C-PE. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about this.

I am going to be using an app called Classtag to communicate with parents this year. This app allows me to instant message parents, send parents photos of their child, and remind parents of important dates. If you are interested in communicating with me on classtag please send me an email with your name, your child's name, your phone number, and your email address. Here is a video with more information about this awesome app https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03LxHU8ISiI&feature=youtu.be

What should you know about Mrs. Krieck?

This is not my first time teaching children! I started my education journey as a buddy at Preschool Palace at Scappoose High School. Along the way I have also worked at Monkey Tree Learning Center and Oregon Child Development Coalition.

I have one child. A fur child that is...his name is Rudy. He is a 2.5 year old German Short-haired Pointer!

I love the reading, camping, hiking, spending time with my family, and playing cards.

I also have very high expectations for my students. My goal is to create a rigorous learning environment where all my learners are equal participants. This means I need active and engaged students prepared to take on the challenges of our classroom.

Thank you for visiting our blog! I look forward to meeting all of you at our Open House on September 25 (5:30-7:00).
